As I move into my sunset years - I seem to find
I’m not getting richer or wiser - just trying to survive
That old man I used to be - still comes around
I keep reaching for the stars - but I can’t get off the ground
Sometime I wonder - if mom and dad were right
They taught me to walk straight and narrow - to fight the good fight
After all these years of sweat & tears - I still don’t have an answer
I’m still looking and searching for - my Happy Ever After
I’m gathering the harvest - of the seeds I’ve sown
That old man I used to be - won’t leave me alone
I’m gonna climb that mountain - so I can clearly see
Or just roll with the punches & keep on reaching - for the man I ought to be
When I’m with family and friends - with all their love and laughter
Could it be I’m already in - my Happy Ever After
